How Often Should You Wash Your Car? It Depends Where You Park
There is no single answer. Here is a realistic washing schedule for Madinah's climate based on where you park and how you drive.

We get asked this almost weekly. The usual answer — every two weeks — isn't wrong, it's just too generic to help anyone. A car kept in a basement is nothing like one parked under a tree, and a car doing 80 km a day is nothing like one that moves twice a week.
The working rule
Paint isn't damaged by dust itself. It's damaged by dust sitting there and then being rubbed across the surface. Every extra day increases the odds of fine scratching. So: wash before it needs scrubbing.
- Parked outside, driven daily — every 7 days.
- Covered or basement parking — every 10–14 days.
- Light use — every two weeks with a rinse in between.
- After rain or a dust storm — within 48 hours, whatever the schedule says.
What shifts the schedule
Where you park
By far the biggest factor. A car in direct sun goes through a daily expansion cycle and dust bonds harder to hot paint. Under trees the problem is worse: bird droppings and sap are acidic and etch permanently if left for days.
Your routes
Unpaved roads and construction zones raise the rate sharply. If your daily commute passes active building work, treat your car as daily-use.
The season
During Umrah and Hajj periods traffic density and airborne dust both rise. Many of our customers move from two washes a month to four — which is exactly why 4- and 8-wash packages exist.
And the interior?
- Quick vacuum — with most washes.
- Deep clean and polish — every 3 to 6 months, or immediately for a stain or smell.
- Leather treatment — every 3 months in this heat to prevent cracking.
Can you wash too often?
Yes — but the issue is method, not frequency. Ten correct washes with clean towels and neutral shampoo are kinder to paint than two washes with a stiff brush and household soap. Done right, weekly washing protects paint rather than wearing it.
What ruins paint isn't water. It's the towel that was used on someone else's car first.
Signs to wash now
- You can write your name on the bonnet.
- Dried circular water spots after light rain.
- Bird droppings or tree sap — these never wait for a schedule.
- The windscreen hazes when you drive into the sun.
